Here Come the Drums, Here Come the Drums

November 20, 2008

One of the things I regret from my lack of time these days is not attempting to play the piano anymore. I can’t honestly say that it’s all down to being busy, as I did hike a keyboard around with me through a couple of flats and it didn’t get much use. I don’t know where the motivation went but I do miss it.

Playing music is great fun, and there’s nothing like jamming with anyone you can find who can also lay their hands on an instrument.

Never fear, though, Nintendo have the answer. Fresh from the success of Wii Fit, they’ve come up with another barnstormer – Wii Music.

There’s a video on that page that shows you what the gameplay is like, and there are a couple of other videos out there that show you the actions you might be making.

Can I just take a moment to say: Drum Kit!

I was lucky enough to drop hints big enough that I got Guitar Hero World Tour for my birthday last week and I must say it’s brilliant!

A bit more involved than Wii Music, you get real drums to take out your frustrations on and the guitar is a lot of fun too. The microphone doesn’t do me any favours however.

Wii Music looks like a lot of fun – easy to pick up and play in the Nintendo tradition, and it’s good to see more unusual instruments like the saxophone getting an airing.

Will be interested to see how you get on if (when!) you get round to purchasing it…

    Apparently there’s a cowbell too!
