Here are just a few things that struck me about the latest Doctor Who episode, The Water of Mars. If you haven’t seen it yet, and you are able, it’s up on the iPlayer already. It only finished 15 minutes ago!
- That is the first time in a long time, if you don’t count F1 coverage, that I have watched live TV – even if I was streaming it on the web.
- I am slightly concerned about boiling the water needed to make pasta for dinner now.
- I don’t like the unhinged doctor all that much, although he is an interesting character study. It will make saying goodbye to the character much easier, if they make him slightly less likeable.
- I am fascinated by the idea of a colony on Mars, particularly the way they had the hub with the branches leading off to the various domes.
- What was that Ood doing there?
- I miss Donna.

I’ve been thinking about the Ood cameo. I recon that the Doctor is so unhinged he’s hallucinating, Hence Ood Sigma disappearing.

as awesome as unhinged doctor it was a sudden change and it just didn’t feel right to me. but still a good episode much better than the easter one.

I think it would have been better if he was slightly more manic in the Easter one, then it wouldn’t have been so out of the blue.

Probably end up talking spoilers in this post, so you’ve been warned.
Aside from the obvious, loved the supporting cast, especially the guys who played Roman and Yuri and the girl who played Adelaide (must get clued up). Added a good stuff the the show.
Bad stuff, when 40 minutes in when the Doctor became heroic. Just too obvious.
But I like the ‘power gone mad’ role, love it. New twists, and I like twists.

It had been billed as the scariest Dr Who ever. Personally, I found Blink more scary until the end when the Dr stopped obeying the rules, that was the scariest part for me. I think the Ood is there because it’s somehow connected to the last two episodes. I also miss Donna, as she says in Christmas Invasion, the Dr needs someone to tell him when to stop. really looking forward to the last two episodes but also don’t want them to come because it’s the end of Dr 10.

I definitely think that’s the bit that was supposed to be scary. The Doctor behaving badly, in a way. It’s just not meant to happen.

Ooh, didn’t realised you had your thoughts up too
If you’re wondering why the Ood was there, think about it. The Ood once told him that his song will end soon, and I’m sure they are singing his song in the same way they were singing their song when Donna got very upset about.
